In the Dragon Block C mod, three swords are added: the Katana, Brave Sword, and Z Sword.
Crafting[]
All three swords can be crafted and enchanted, and all three require the appropriate blade and hilt to be made, but the last two need blades of the first two, less powerful blades, to be made. The last two swords also require Katchin Shards, acquirable only through the Dragon Blocks.

Combat[]
Whilst the complete swords are clearly used for combat similarly to a normal sword, the blades and even the hilts themselves can be used separately from the complete swords, albeit for less damage, if you're low on materials.
